On my trip last weekend to Yerevan, I was looking out the window at different places, saw a karaoke bar, some other stuff, but then I saw a strip club. It was written in English with the Armenian transliteration (they just used the English word I'm pretty sure). It had pictures of blonde women and maybe water(?) but anyways, along with the words strip club in English, they also had, right in the middle, VIAGRA in big block letters.
I don't know if this strip club caters specifically to old men, and they sell that at the bar, or what? But for whatever reason, it was hilarious. Post your ideas in the comments if you like, why would Viagra be written on a strip club sign. And no don't just post it was a misuse of English by an owner that probably doesn't speak English. What's the fun in that.
And walking to work today, I go by this little shop, sort of like a 5 by 5 room, almost like a shed, they're all over and they seem to be shoe repair shops. I'm walking by this one, and he's working this automated grindstone (looked like the things they sharpen ice skates with) and he's got this black high heeled shoe, and he's sharpening (or probably flattening) the point on the shoe.
I choose to again think that he was sharpening it, maybe like an ice pick for walking in the snow and ice in the winter with high heels. I've been told all the women do. Wearing high heels is the uniform for working women here, even in the schools.
Alternatively these are high heels worn by a female assassin, probably the overused stereotype of an Angelina Jolie type character. I think I'd rather it be more like an Uma Thurman type, from Kill Bill, instead of some stupid kick to the throat it's more like it's probably used as a last ditch attempt to defend herself, a fight going back and forth, right when you think she's gonna bite the dust she grabs it off the floor and gets the guy in the neck, more like Daniel Craig's James Bond.
Like stiletto heels, but with a literal stiletto on the end.
Have I been watching too many action films in-country?
Hey Buddy, maybe they have really ugly strippers?
ReplyDeleteThe answer it's always the same - Armenia, see the difference;-)
